Conquer Large Datasets with Apex Cursors (Beta)

Image
Struggling to process massive datasets in Salesforce with Apex? Buckle up, because Apex Cursors (currently in Beta) are here to save the day! What are Apex Cursors? Imagine a fire hose of data spewing out a SOQL query.  Normally, Apex would try to hold the entire stream in memory, which can be overwhelming for both your code and Salesforce's resources.  Apex Cursors act like a bucket, allowing you to process the data in manageable chunks. Benefits of Apex Cursors Handle Large Datasets: Don't be intimidated by millions of records. Cursors break them down into bite-sized pieces for efficient processing. Flexibility: Need to pause and come back later? No problem! Cursors allow you to navigate forward and backward through the results. Queueable Power: Unlike Batch Apex, Cursors integrate seamlessly with queueable jobs, making them ideal for high-volume, high-resource tasks. How Cursors Work Stateless Processing: Each chunk of data is processed independently, keeping memory usa...

Salesforce Asynchronous Apex: How to Batchable Apex Class from Schedulable Class

Trailblazer Profile  |  LinkedIn  |  Salesforce Blog  |  Facebook  |  Youtube Channel  |  WhatsApp Community Batchable and Schedulable classes can be a powerful tool for automating tasks in Salesforce.   It is possible to call a Batchable class from a Schedulable class. This design pattern can help us to schedule the Batch Job & run them at specific intervals.   In this design pattern, Schedulable Class will create a new instance of the Batchable class & then enqueues it. The Batchable class will then be executed by the Salesforce platform.   You can explore the details of Batchable & Schedulable classes in a few of my earlier articles:   Batchable Apex Salesforce Asynchronous Apex: How to work with Batch Apex Class Salesforce Asynchronous Apex: How to chain Batch Apex Jobs Salesforce Asynchronous Apex: Batch Apex Job Chaining Limitat...

Salesforce Asynchronous Apex: Batch Apex Job Chaining Limitations

Trailblazer Profile  |  LinkedIn  |  Salesforce Blog  |  Facebook  |  Youtube Channel  |  WhatsApp Community Salesforce offers Batch Apex implementation that supports the processing of a humungous volume of data (millions of records) asynchronously in the form of batches without violating the platform governance limits.   To know how to start with Batch Class development, you can refer to the previous articles- Salesforce Asynchronous Apex: How to work with Batch Apex Class Salesforce Asynchronous Apex: How to chain Batch Apex Jobs   In this article, we will review the know limitations of Batch Apex Chaining & understand the recommended implementation of the chaining pattern.   Step-1:  To start with let’s review the Accounts Object which is going to be the source of records for this demo Step-2 & 3: As we did in earlier articles, we will...

Here we can see that a few records are already created & and at t...

Salesforce Asynchronous Apex: How to work with Batch Apex Class

Image
Looking for Salesforce Training & HandsOn Projects? Trailblazer Profile  |  LinkedIn  |  Salesforce Blog  |  Facebook  |  Youtube Channel  |  WhatsApp Community Batch Apex is a type of Apex code that is used to process large batches of data asynchronously. This means that the code is executed in the background, so it does not block the user interface or other concurrent requests.  Batch Apex is a powerful tool that can be used for a variety of tasks, such as: Data migration Data cleansing Bulk updates Archiving Scheduled jobs To use Batch Apex, you must implement the Database.Batchable interface . This interface defines three methods: start(): This method is called once, at the beginning of the batch job. It is used to initialize the batch job and retrieve the data that will be processed. execute(): This method is called for each batch of data. It is where the actual processing of the data is done. finish(): This method is c...
